~I am continuing on my beauty recommendations/blunders/beauty chalk talk today. Let’s start with fingernails!!!
~I find that most of my girlfriends wear short nails…I am one of the few that rock long nails. I absolutely LOVED when I saw Skinny Confidential with the coffin shaped nails, and I loved the way they looked! I like the way a longer nail elongates the fingers…it looks more feminine to me. However, I know some people think it is hideous!!! Anyway…….here’s my “tip” (no pun intended) on the nails. I always do the powder stuff. They make the nail not feel like you have ping pong paddles on your fingers, don’t look thick and bulky…lighter, thinner. And the biggest thing-DON’T WEAR TIPS!!!!!! Put the powder over your natural nail. As you can see from my pics…sometimes I break one (sad fact of life), and I have to start over…damn the luck. However, I go with my natural nail length. I think this makes them look nicer, and they break less. I also like for their to be a little thicker powder right where the nail extends from the finger…this will also help with breakage!!! Lastly, who has ever broken your nail WITH the tip on??? It hurts like childbirth…don’t put those damn things on. THIS is my go to color as of now.
~These two pics are completely untouched…if you look, you can see where I have fine lines around my eyes…hello 40’s!! I used to NEVER think about putting primer on before my makeup…UNTIL I noticed that it makes a HUGE difference with your makeup settling into those fine lines. I have tried upteen billion primers…and THIS is the one for me. I get shiny in my t-zone, and this helps combat that so much. I also spritz THIS on when I want it to last ALLLLL day or night. It is the holy grail of makeup setting.
~Alrighty now…eye puffiness…the bane of my existence. The bottom pic is stamped, as you can see May 4, 2003-I believe we were at the Madonna concert. This was 14 years ago…there are a couple of things going on here. A) I’m just younger-so puffy eyes and thinning of the face was not a factor. You lose volume in your face as you age-STAY OUT OF THE SUN!!!! I DID NOT listen to that, and I am paying now. B) My brows circa 2000-we all plucked the shiz out of them…and it’s not a good look. C) No one did FaceTune or anything to alter their pictures, you just got them and looked how you looked. My skin is free of lines, hollow circles and puffiness around the eyes. SOOOOOOOOO….here’s what I have found works for me-somewhat. As I have gotten older, I have allergies that I never had before. So, sometimes my eyes are puffier than normal…and sometimes it’s too much wine, not enough sleep, etc. I think THIS eye cream has given me the most bang for my buck. It specifically targets “glycation”!!! The science is this: When you have sugar molecules in your system, they bombard the body’s cells like a meteor shower—glomming onto fats and proteins in a process known as glycation. This forms advanced glycation end products (commonly shortened, appropriately, to AGEs), which cause protein fibers to become stiff and malformed. The proteins in skin most prone to glycation are the same ones that make a youthful complexion so plump and springy—collagen and elastin. When those proteins hook up with renegade sugars, they become discolored, weak, and less supple; this shows up on the skin’s surface as wrinkles, sagginess, and a loss of radiance. When all else fails-I will put THESE on, anything with caffeine will help with the puffiness. If you have advice for me, DO TELL!!!! Eye puffiness is not that easy to get rid of.
Sorry for the long read here ^^^^^^^^, just thought it would be worthwhile.
Have fab Wednesday!!!!! Ohhhhh….P.S., I also think eye lubricants (I LOATHE this word…I’m immature…I also hate the word puberty–whatever) are fantastic!! I put them in before I go to bed and right when I wake up!! I use this HERE
